Explore Cornwall from Truro

Truro is a great central hub for exploring Cornwall's south coast, with  direct rail links & bus network, & affordable places to stay away from the coastal hot spots.

Day 1 - Truro City Charm & Riverside Walks

Morning: Explore the city centre's Georgian architecture & the iconic Truro Cathedral.

Afternoon: Take a scenic walk from the city along the river to the village of Malpas (approx. 2 miles). Enjoy a waterside lunch at the Heron Inn, which offers panoramic views of the estuary.

Evening: Return to Truro for dinner at a local favourite like Hooked! Restaurant for fresh Cornish seafood.

Day 2 - Falmouth & The Seafront

Morning: Catch the Maritime Line train from Truro to Falmouth (25 mins). Visit Pendennis Castle for historic battlements & 360-degree sea views.

Afternoon: Walk the coastal path from the castle down to Gyllyngvase Beach. Grab a casual lunch at the Gylly Beach Cafe or head to Swanpool Beach for a quieter atmosphere.

Evening: Explore Falmouth's independent shops on the High Street before heading back to Truro by train.

Day 3 - St Mawes & The Roseland Peninsula

Morning: Take the Enterprise Boat ferry from Truro (Malpas) or Falmouth across to St Mawes.

Afternoon: Explore the picturesque village & St Mawes Castle. For a peaceful walk, follow the path to the St Just in Roseland Church, often called the most beautiful churchyard in England.

Evening: Enjoy a romantic dinner at The Idle Rocks in St Mawes before taking the late ferry back.

Day 4 - Trelissick Gardens & Hidden Coves

Morning: Visit Trelissick Garden, a National Trust estate overlooking the Fal River. You can reach it via a short bus ride or the King Harry Ferry.

Afternoon: Head to Perranporth Beach for a dose of the rugged North Coast - the 87 bus runs directly from Truro. Walk the dunes or explore the rock pools at low tide.

Evening: End your trip with a celebratory drink at a historic Truro pub like The Old Grammar School or a show at the Hall for Cornwall.
